Freshman Chris Walker was named District VII Pitcher of the Week following his complete game victory in the season opener, and senior Joe Cialone was named District VII Player of the Week.

Owls Take Early District VII Lead with Wins over Texas A&M Galveston

The Owls finished their first series with a bang, run-ruling the Aggies 13-3.  Following the first week of the season, the Owls have a hold on the top District VII spot, and aim to keep it.

2/21/2010 — Rice Captures Key Series Victory In Early Conference Action

The Owls opened their District VII season this weekend with a home series against Texas A&M Galveston.  Rice wound up taking the series two games to one thanks to solid starting pitching and some timely hitting.  More details will come after official results are submitted.  Below is the headline from clubbaseball.com:

Rice University outdueled TAMU-Galveston over the weekend in a hotly contested battle for the early conference lead. The Owls were led by the pitching of Chris Walker and Dan Bianculli and the hitting of Joe Cialone and Ian Chmar.

Owls Club Team Confirmed for Reckling Park

This just in, the Athletic Department has given the Owls permission to use beautiful Reckling Park for their home finale against the University of Houston-Downtown Gators.  Reckling Park is the home of the 2003 National Champion Rice Owls, and is considered one of the finest baseball facilities in the state.  (Photo from David Engle).

Preseason Rankings for NCBA Released
