Rice has played three of its six District VII series and sits in the middle of the pack with a record of 5-3. The Owls swept Texas A&M-Galveston and dropped series to Texas State and UH-Downtown.
John Stretton earned his second District VII Hitter of the Week award of 2011, and picked up the first National Hitter of the Week award in Rice club history. Daniel Kaplan was also awarded a District VII Pitcher of the Week award for his complete game win over Texas A&M Galveston.
The Owls remaining series will all be tough: home against Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and LSC-Montgomery, and away at San Antonio College. The Owls need to play very well in these final nine games to keep a second consecutive District VII title a possibilty.
