The Rice club team was eliminated from the 2010 World Series by a 6-3 loss to Northeastern University. The Owls had advanced to the semifinals in their first ever World Series berth, and finished with a 2-2 record. The previous two days, the Owls had eliminated #1 William and Mary and #4 Western State College of Colorado. The Owls are looking forward to a strong season next year as the majority of the team will be returning for 2011. More World Series coverage will follow.

Sophomore pitcher Brandon Davies busts a move at a dance-off in downtown Johnstown, PA as part of the NCBA World Series pre-game ceremonies.
The NCBA has recently released the seeds for the 2010 DII World Series in Johnstown, PA. The Rice Owls have been placed as the lowest seed, #8. They will be matched up in the first game against top seed William and Mary on May 21st.

Rice finished their season at 11-4 following a run-rule loss to crosstown rival UH-Downtown.
Rice and UH-Downtown will make up their rescheduled game this Wednesday (May 5) at 7:00 PM at Taub Field. This will be the Owls’ final regular season game and first night game in Houston. Rice won the first two games of the series 12-2 and 11-2. Senior LHP Dave Garland will get the start on the mound, his first appearance of the season.
Over the weekend, the Rice Owls clinched a spot in the NCBA DII World Series as LSC Montgomery fell to the Corps of Cadets twice. Heading into the weekend, the Owls could advance to the world series with one loss by Montgomery. The Corps of Cadets did what the Owls knew they would. They reinforced their status as the best team Rice had played all year.
The Owls will conclude their regular season this week with a rescheduled game versus cross-town rival UH-Downtown. Rice has compiled an 11-3 record in District VII, and has won every weekend series this spring.
